What we have achieved and money raised.
Purchasing much needed equipment for Prof. Peter Johnson and his team.
There is now a Dave Wellman Lab at the Somers Cancer Sciences Building that has been fitted out with all the
equipment it needs funded by DWCT, to enable the research and progress into finding a much hoped for cure.
Also, Freezers to hold biopsies whilst patients are awaiting treatment that are kept in a safe environment until the
time when they can work on the samples to find the best way to approach every individuals needs as far as
treatment goes.
We have funded a centrifugal machine and an Ellispot reader, two amazing pieces of equipment that will help the
scientists separate biological material, and cell research. Much needed processes in the research.
We have helped towards the running costs of Jane Scarth House. We have purchased new computer equipment to
enable the befriending centre to run more smoothly, and in late 2010, we saw the completion of the refurbishment
to the complementary suites with new décor, furniture and artwork. In addition, we were able to give a new laptop
and printing, scanning and fax printer to help further make the centre run more smoothly.
Donations and money raised.
The Construction Partnership celebrated the rebranding of their company by holding a celebrity football match in style

BC.
The company hosted a Charity Football Match which raised over £5000 for Dave Wellman Cancer Trust and Hampshire
FA Grassroots Football. Underlining the company’s team working ethos, football teams comprised of Clients, Suppliers,

Lin Williamson held a coffee morning and her friends and family raised £175 with a further donation to Wessex Cancer Trust in memory of her lovely mum,
Gwen.
Mabs and Ken Sprinks have supported me since the very beginning and have continued to do so. Even for
their golden Wedding Anniversary they asked for a donation to DWCT rather than having presents. A
beautiful silver tea service was the very first item they donated for the auction, this raised £450 at the very
first ball.
Ros Hancock and her colleagues at Professional Development & Training Services H.C.C. donated on more
than one occasion and rather than sending Christmas cards, the money came to us and we thank them
very much.
I have many, many supporters and especially since the last ball, I have had help from marathon runner
Mike Wright and his wife Karen who has organised garden fairs and car boot sales and they have raised
over £2,500. Mike is now training to run for us in the New Forest half marathon later in the year.
Another huge supporter is Sandy Jones who owns Rhian’s Fashion House in Warsash. Sandy holds “ladies
Lets Lunch” events and has raised thousands for charities over the years. Sandy and her “ladies” have
raised thousands for us that has gone to help Prof Johnson and Countess Mountbatten. Thank you to her
and her “ladies”.
Also a huge thank you to Diane and Martin Bellamy who cycled to raise money, and were greeted back by patron
Franny Benali from their 150-mile ride and raised over £1000. Also a christmas fayre in 2012 raising again
hundreds to support us. Thank you Dianne for your beautiful creations and blankets made to raise money.
